Introduced in 1961, The Gibson B-25 replaced reigning Gibson LG-2 which started in 1942. Despite having similarities, the B-25 and LG-2 are quite different. The B-25 featured a newly designed, adjustable bridge which offers a very different tonal character. The neck profiles are a little smaller-feeling. Early versions had a 1 11/16" nut widths and later versions had a narrower 1 5/8" which were ideal for players with smaller hands or predominantly electric guitar players.

According to the serial number, this example dates to either '63 or '67, but if you look carefully, you will see 3 main things. The pickguard material changed in the later 60's, neck profiles were smaller in the later 60's and 1963 B-25's had a plastic bridge as opposed to the lovely rosewood bridge seen here.

This guitar is in fabulous shape. It was well taken care of over the years and is a lovely sounding guitar. When purchased, it had a couple braces reglued and had its giant plywood bridge plate replaced with a much smaller, solid-maple bridge plate. This work was performed by Mark Stutman of Folkway Music. At this time, a non-invasive, passive LR Baggs M1 was also installed. This is a great option for this guitar because of the adjustable bridge. It does a fabulous job of capturing the essence of what these adjustable bridge Gibsons are all about.

This will include a non-original generic hard shell case.
